The era of the three-point suspension design of hydroplane had most assuredly arrived. Measuring 28-1/2 feet in length with an Allison engine, SLO-MO-SHUN IV was not the first Unlimited hydroplane to "propride" on a semi-submerged propeller. But she was the first to reap championship results in the application of the concept.
Mike Hanson returned to the team as Crew Chief along with former Crew Chief and Turbine Engine Specialist, Larry Hanson. The community-owned Miss Madison Racing team is the oldest continuously active team in unlimited hydroplane history. The city has had a boat in competition every year from 1961 to 2019 – a total of 59 seasons.
